BINGO!!!! Holiday Style

On December 7th, we are having our school-wide Holiday Family Night.  It's becoming an annual event although last year it was snowed out.  Hopefully this year will be a grand success.

We are going to be drawing Elf Selfies.  I got the Elf Doodle a Face from Krista Wallden's Creative Clips TPT Store.  So excited to see how they turn out.  We'll hang them in the halls in family groups.

We will be decorating Christmas Cookies, baked with love by our school cafeteria.

These are actually cookies I made just today-probably not as cute as the cookies the families will decorate.

We will also have a visit from our favorite big guy in red.  Santa will take pictures with our families and have a little gift for them.

We will all be playing Holiday BINGO.  I used to have a copy from http://www.dltk-cards.com/bingo/.  It was wonderful but I wanted something more colorful and decided to make my own set.  It took a while because each board has a different arrangement.  But I think they turned out so cute that I decided to list them on my TPT store which you can get here as well as here on my Teachers Notebook store.

New product: Six Syllable Posters

I've been a busy little beaver here lately.  I honestly don't know what has come over me. It's been forever, and now I'm productive again. When I get like this I worry that I'm not doing something I should be...but things seem to be running smoothly-for the moment.  I think it helps  that we're on Thanksgiving Break.  Not only that,  but my evenings this week have been free-my Zumba is on a break until Dec. 1st, my Irish Dance won't start up again until Dec. 3rd, and Bible Study won't meet again until Dec. 2nd.  So I guess I'd better prepare myself because not only is everything starting up again, but I am also going to be a Brain Bowl coach.  I'm looking forward to this.

Tickle the Elf will also be coming back.  Only now he's got to figure out a way to visit students outside of a classroom.  Look for his school-wide antics in future posts.

On to my new stuff-  The first is in relation to my classroom visits as an instructional coach.  Have I mentioned that I LOVE my new position?!? So anyway, I visited a 3rd grade Reading class and my friend and colleague, Christi was teaching closed and open syllables to her students.  Later the same week another coach gave me the idea to use candy wrappers to remind students of the types.  It was just the right spark for my creative juices to start flowing again.

Since I don't have a classroom anymore, I made the poster portable so other teachers can use it with their students.
If you'd like, I have the posters listed on my TPT store, which you can grab here.  I also have them listed in my Teachers Notebook store, which is available here.
This is the cover page.  Candy not included.

Time Flies...Almost a year since my last post...Much to be thankful for!!!

     First of all, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
I took this picture of these turkeys this past spring hiking at Rocky Mountain National Park.
Too much time has gone by.  It's been almost a year since my last post and many changes have happened.  I spent the past two years in a wonderfully rewarding position as the ESL Teacher.  It was a fantastic experience.  But last school year our school ran without an Instructional Coach.  My principal did an amazing job, but several of us stepped up and helped her with the many responsibilities.  This is why this blog was put on the back burner.
At the beginning of this school year, along with many physical changes to our building (we had a huge construction project that forced us to start the year later than normal), we had many personnel changes.  One of those changes was me moving into the role of Instructional Coach.  I must say that it is a full-time job and I don't know how we did it last year without one nor do I know how schools run with a coach that also is a full time classroom teacher.

That being said, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what I am doing now.  It is so rewarding to get to know staff with whom I wouldn't have otherwise interacted.  Along with all the assessments to arrange, data to interpret, PLCs to run, new teachers to mentor, etc, etc, etc, I am also working hard on boosting teacher morale and helping to manage stress as well as still trying to maintain student interaction-after all, they are the reason we work so hard everyday.  Our building-Green Acres Elementary is truly the place to be!

I am hoping to get back into blogging.  I started a couple new products for my TPT and Teachers Notebook Store so look for them soon.  I am hoping to branch out a little with things I post-possibly starting to include life beyond the classroom, but all of it relates in my opinion.  So if I post something, say about a recipe or some kind of getaway or some kind of fashion or some cool show or activity, know that those things indirectly relate to school in that a relaxed mind and body will ultimately be more productive.  Plus it would just be so fun to branch out.  I am so looking forward to being back-I think my blogging anniversary was just this month, three years ago.  It's hard to believe.
